‘The Makers Barn’ by HUTCH featured on estliving
The Makers Barn,
a tranquil retreat in the English countryside, showcases the exquisite fusion of architectural brilliance and craftsmanship by HUTCH. Converted from abandoned pig sheds, the barn seamlessly marries contemporary design with an English hideaway aesthetic. The central focus of the space, characterized by a concrete chimney, plastered walls, timber columns, and a larch timber-clad roof, pays homage to Tudor cottages, providing a unique blend of tradition and modernity.
Internally, organic materials like clay-plastered walls, end grain flooring, and English elm joinery create a warm atmosphere. Notably, artisanal charm is added through meticulously crafted furniture, including the Stubby Stool and textured Oak bench. The stool, fashioned from English hardwoods, features a hand-carved textured top and unique split legs, celebrating the artistry of hand tools. Meanwhile, the bench perched on the patio boasts textured surfaces, offering a tactile experience and accentuating the blend of smooth seating with hand-carved details.
