How to build a mini cabin - Free PDF download

Between the two lockdowns of 2020. I managed to escape and spend a couple months living with @family_in_the_forest in Sweden, along with 20 or so other volunteers to help with their project and learn many things along with permaculture, self-sufficiency and building. One of my projects in the lead up to winter was to convert this old hunting shed into a miniature home for someone who was going to spend weeks of winter, living and working from the ‘Survival Pod’. There was a wood burning stove / cooker and that's all. The entire floor area was 2.5m2, and the wood burner knocked that down to about 1.9m2.

He needed a bed, a desk/table area to edit video content taken of the project, and some storage.

Using entirely timber that had been felled and sawn on site, and mostly hand tools I built this little home for Marius. The bed has to be raised and lowered to make enough room for sleeping, and for head room during the day, using very rudimentary but effective wooden blocks. The desk is also somewhat versatile, having three heights and able to be taken away easily. I subsequently made plans on how to build a shed/cabin. Taking you through step by step how to timber frame and clad one of your own. This document has been sitting in the drive for over two years. So, as unfinished as it is, you can download it for free if you would like a bit of insight into how to build one of these from start to finish.

And if my girlfriend can read and understand it, in her own words, “anyone can”. Have a crack!
