This Walnut set was made while filming a project with a friend, Blake Temple who is a Director and Film Maker.

John’s Old Workshop, the location and the name of the film, is a small and characterful wood workshop that has been completely untouched since John’s passing in February 2020. John is Blakes Grandad and by the wishes of his wife Mary, we spent the day creating this 3 piece set and film to pay homage to a great man. He was always very welcoming and keen to impart his in depth knowledge of carpentry and joinery.

We slowly made our way through his workshop, admiring all the little quirks, seeing what material he had stored, and browsing through the projects and tools that had been left untouched since a year ago.

What might seem like clutter to some, is rather organised storage of necessary and superbly looked after tools. It was quite surreal being in a space where you would look at and touch things that have been left in that exact spot by someone who hasn’t been with us for over a year.

I hope we were able to create something that he would of enjoyed, although even the fact that someone was using his shop would have been enough to have made him happy..
